Halloween 2015

This Halloween we had a blast! Mia insisted as going as Mal from Disney’s Descendants and begged Ally to coordinate her costume as “Mal’s Mom” (aka Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty). Patrick dressed up in his old faithful dog costume, and the Miller clan descended upon the streets of Johns Creek. Below is a recap of our holiday shenanigans!

School Halloween Parade

Since Halloween fell on a Saturday this year, the kids got to dress up at school for the class parade and party the Friday before. Mia was thrilled she would get to wear her costume twice! The parade was beyond adorable with princesses galore. While Mia opted for the more rebellious Mal, she definitely got to stand out in the class! After the parade, the kids did a scavenger hunt with parents on the playground followed by a festive Halloween “Smooky” party. For the party, Mia and I created graveyard cupcakes! Mia was responsible for the decorating, while Mom was responsible for the baking. All said and done, they were a huge hit with the class. We love to have an excuse to bake and decorate!

Trick-or-Treating!

This year we had an exceptional treat of being invited to trick-or-treat with some of Miabella’s friends from school. The gang included her BFF Olivia, Megan, Devahki, Olivia’s little sister Ava and the twins. This was the first year she got to go with a group of friends, and the girl nearly lost her mind. Seriously, I have not seen her run and scream so much in a long time! It was the cutest thing ever and you could tell she had just the best time. It was also nice having some fellow adult parent company of some amazing families while we walked the streets!

We started the night with a pizza party at Olivia’s then proceeded to hit up the houses in the neighborhood for an hour. After the girls started to lose some steam, we called it a night and headed home. We got to our house at 7 PM and Miabella had a second wind and was ready to go again! Fortunately, our neighbors were just starting out the night and we were able to go along with them (they have two girls age 3 and 7, and the three of them have become fast friends). After trick or treating at EVERY house possible in the neighborhood, we walked back home and checked the pedometer. We finished the night with 6 MILES of trick or treating. Not going to lie, it was intense.

Halloween Bonfire

After an insane night of trick-or-treating, Patrick treated us to a bonfire complete with smores in the backyard! A perfect end to a perfect Halloween!

Halloween Decor and Pumpkin Carving

Patrick did an amazing job spookying up the house while Mia and Ally were out in Georgia! It was such an amazing surprise to come home to. Unfortunately the pics don’t capture the awesomeness, but you’ll get the idea!

The Great Pumpkin

In our family, we do “The Great Pumpkin” as an alternative to eating pounds of candy. Long story short, you leave the candy you collected (sans whatever Mom and Dad says you can keep) on the front stoop Halloween night and the Great Pumpkin comes and takes the candy leaving a special prize in its place. This year, Mia was ecstatic to see the GP left her a mega marble run complete with fancy tubes and fun marbles. It has already provided hours of entertainment and she absolutely loves coming up with new designs and fun combinations. Can’t wait to see what he brings next year!

Marble Run Success

Hope everyone had a fantastic and safe Halloween weekend! Until next time….
